Happy Solstice! With the arrival of summer, a week of sunshine ahead and the city warming up to an exciting new season what better time to order a meal (maybe with some friends or family) and eat al fresco. This dinner’s offerings are full of flavour from warm places and fresh salads. A moist and delicious cake full of coconut and topped with pistachios to finish.
This semester’s team of AMAZING women come from Morocco, India, Nigeria, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia!! Which is amazing in itself. Working together to make a fusion menu for you to enjoy has been half the fun. This meal is NOT to be missed.
The team has called themselves Tasty Cultures and this is what they have to say about themselves: We are a group of culturally diverse newcomer women who are passionate about quality food and sharing our culture through the delicious food we make. We use authentic and hearty recipes full of flavours from back home and offer love and comfort with each bite.

Dahi Papdi Chaat
A famous Delhi street food, Dahi Papdi Chat, is a crispy sweet, spicy, and tangy chaat that packs a whole lot of flavour. Also known as Dilli chaat, this popular street food is made with chickpeas simmered in wonderful warm spices served on crispy papdi (chickpea flour crackers) and topped with yogurt, tamarind sauce, a variety of chutneys and fresh sweet pomegranate seeds. YUM!

Qema Kabab
Afghanistan is justly famous for its meat kababs. This version is beef mixed with onions, spices and grilled to smokey, juicy, tenderness.

Kadai Paneerdo Pyaja
This Masala curry is warm, velvety, sweet and spicy. It is tomato based with paneer cheese, onions and green and red peppers roasted and simmered in the sauce to bring out all the flavours.

Jollof Rice
In Nigeria Jollof Rice is an absolute favorite and a staple at every large gathering. This is a mild version to accompany the super flavourful main dishes but reflects the same flavour profiles of tomato, onion and peppers.
Moroccan Carrot Salad
A lightly cooked carrot side salad with a dressing of cilantro, mint and parsley pesto. Served at room temperature it is neither hot nor cold. This is a recipe typical of the moroccan cuisine where multiple dishes of intriguing vegetables cooked with herbs and spices abound a dinner table.
Arabic Salad
A refreshing combination of cucumber, tomato, onion, parsley and a few black olives.
Dessert
Revani tath tarifi
While Robina spent time in Turkey after leaving Afghanistan she learnt to make this moist, light and delicious cake. It is made with semolina flour, eggs, yogurt and coconut and dusted with pistachio nuts.
